F-region ExB drifts data
exhibited at this site were collected during
the 1994 MISETA I Campaign and World Day Experiments
conducted since November 1995.
Data processing scheme is described in Kudeki et al. [1997].
First select a date from the pull-down menu,
and then click on one of the display action buttons:
NOTES:
- To make use of this data base you need a JavaScript compatible browser such as Netscape 3.0 or
Internet Explorer 3.02 (or later versions).
- Upward and east- and west-beam line-of-sight ExB velocities are referred to as `w', `w_e', and
`w_w', respecively. Eastward
drift velocity computed from w_e and w_w is denoted as `u'.
Two independent reception antennas are used per beam direction. Consequently, four power estimates
`p_w0', `p_w1', `p_e0', and `p_e1' are available.
The term `power' refers to `signal+noise' normalized by
our estimate of the channel noise level.
For all the estimates integration time is 5 min and height resolution is 15 km.
- Statistical uncertainties (StDev) for parameter estimates are provided whenever possible.
A NaN or 0 value for StDev means that uncertainty estimate is not available.
For drift estimates a StDev value of NaN implies
that radar returns were due to coherent (e.g., spread-F, electrojet, space junk...) rather than incoherent scatter.
- If you open any of the data maps as an `xv' display (`open this image'
option when you click your right mouse button will this for you
if your browser has been set to handle gif files with xv command),
`color editor'
of your `xv' application (click on xv-display and look under `windows' menu)
will allow you to view the data map with a variety of color schemes.
- Binary data files `xxx.bin' can be downloaded from data directories
by clicking on file names.
The directories also include copies of CEDAR Data Base files `xxx.dat' written
in ASCII.
